Brief Biography

Professor Mahmoud Umar Sani is a distinguished scholar in Internal Medicine and Cardiology. His journey began with a medical degree in 1993, followed by rigorous Internal Medicine and Cardiology residency training. In 2002, he won the prestigious SF Kuku Prize for the Best Graduating Fellow of the West African College of Physicians. He also earned a PhD in Medicine from the University of Cape Town, attended advanced heart failure training at the University of Zurich, and completed the Train to Teach Medicine course at Harvard Medical School.

He joined Bayero University in July 2002 as Lecturer I and rose through the ranks to become a Professor in 2013. His leadership roles have included Sub-Dean, Head of Department, Deputy Provost, Dean, and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management Services), Bayero University Kano. His commitment to academic excellence is reflected in the training and mentorship of more than 20 Consultant Cardiologists and 4 PhDs, his role as Principal Investigator in 22 multi-center clinical trials and registries, and his successful procurement of academic funds.

Professor Sani has authored more than 180 peer-reviewed publications and 7 book chapters, contributing significantly to knowledge in heart failure, echocardiography, cardiovascular epidemiology, and cardiovascular disease in HIV. He has been active in the Nigerian Cardiac Society, the Pan African Society of Cardiology (PASCAR), and the European Society of Cardiology, helping shape initiatives such as the PASCAR Africa Heart Failure Course, which has empowered more than 100 African healthcare professionals from 16 countries. He has served as an Examiner for the West African College of Physicians since 2008 and has been a World Heart Federation Emerging Leader since 2015. He was appointed the pioneer Vice Chancellor of JSUMAHS by His Excellency the Executive Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar Namadi, FCA, in March 2026.

Brief Biography

Muhammad Saleh is an accomplished university administrator with extensive experience in higher education administration and public service. He holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Geography and has served in various administrative capacities throughout his career. Beginning as an Administrative Officer, he steadily rose through the ranks to the position of Deputy Registrar, demonstrating exceptional commitment, leadership, and administrative competence.

He is a member of several professional bodies, including the Institute of Management Consultants (IMC), the Registered Administrative Managers of Nigeria (RAMN), the Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators (ANUPA), and the Institute of Administrative Managers (IAM).

Muhammad Saleh currently serves as the pioneer Registrar of Jigawa State University of Medical and Allied Health Sciences, Majia, where he provides strategic leadership in the administration of the University and contributes significantly to its institutional development.

Sani Ahmad Sulaiman, FCA, is a distinguished Chartered Accountant and accomplished university administrator with over 17 years of experience in public sector financial management and higher education administration. He holds a Bachelor of Management Technology (Accounting) from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

Throughout his career, he has held several key positions at the Jigawa State Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning and Sule Lamido University, where he served as Acting Bursar, Deputy Bursar, Chief Accountant, and Head of several strategic financial units. His expertise spans financial planning, budgeting, treasury management, internal controls, and institutional financial governance.

Mr. Sulaiman currently serves as the Bursar of Jigawa State University of Medical and Allied Health Sciences, Majia, where he is committed to promoting transparency, accountability, and excellence in financial administration. He has also served on numerous university committees and governing bodies, contributing significantly to institutional growth and development.

Dr. Muhammad Yusuf is a Certified Librarian of Nigeria who holds a Ph.D. in Library and Information Technology and currently serves as the pioneer University Librarian at Jigawa State University of Medical and Allied Health Sciences, Majia.

He boasts a robust research portfolio, evidenced by a substantial body of peer reviewed journal articles and scholarly presentations delivered at both national and international conferences. His research interests are at the forefront of contemporary librarianship, encompassing electronic resources, artificial intelligence integration in library systems, digital literacy competencies, and strategic knowledge management.

An active and engaged professional, he holds prestigious memberships in the Nigerian Library Association, the Librarians' Registration Council of Nigeria, and the Nigerian Institute of Management, underscoring his unwavering commitment to professional excellence and ethical practice.
